Location

The project is located on Wiradjuri Country, approximately 6 km west of Parkes, in the Parkes LGA. The project connects to the Transgrid Parkes substation.

The solar farm occupies an area of approximately 300 hectares of freehold rural land. At the end of the operational life of the project, it is planned that the land will be rehabilitated and reverted to pasture.

Additional land for development is not currently being sought, as the project has been constructed and has been operational since 2020.

FRV selected this location for the following reasons:

Sun Icon

Excellent solar irradiation

The site benefits from abundant sunlight and favourable weather conditions, producing reliable and affordable green energy.

Leaves Icon

Low level of environmental impact

The site was largely cleared and disturbed by previous land uses, meaning the project minimised impacts on native flora and fauna during construction.

Wheat Icon

Avoiding the best Agricultural Land

The site avoids strategic agricultural land and was previously used for grazing.

Ground Plan Icon

Level terrain

the land is largely flat, reducing visual impacts and allowing cost-effective construction.

Lightning Bolt Icon

Proximity to the National Grid

The project connects to the adjacent Transgrid substation, reducing the need for new overhead transmission lines

Excellent Transport Links

The site is well connected to the State Road network.
